First phase of GJMM sponsored 96-hour Bandh begins this morning

In West Bengal, the first phase of the Gorkha Jana Mukti Morcha, GJMM, sponsored 96-hour Bandh began this morning. The Morcha has called for nearly a month long Bandh in proposed Gorkhaland areas, with one or two days respite in between, to pressurise the Central government to take a stand on Gorkhaland along with Telengana issue. The Morcha has however kept the very essential services along with the National highway 31 – A linking landlock Sikkim state out of the purview of the Bandh. The district police administration is keeping a close watch over the situation and has deployed security personnel at the very sensitive points. Bandh so far is peaceful and there is no report of any untoward incidents.
