First phase of Coastal project aided by World Bank covers Guj, Odisha, WB: Govt

Environment and Forest minister Prakash Javadekar today said his ministry has commissioned a World Bank assisted Integrated Coastal Zone Management project aimed at preparation of integrated coastal zone management plans for selected coastline stretches. <br/><br/>Replying to questions in the Lok Sabha, Mr Javadekar said the phase one of the project covers Gujarat, Odisha and West Bengal. He said the government in July 2015 had approved the phase two of the project to cover remaining coastal states and union territories.<br/><br/>The minister informed the government has initiated the process to review the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) notification , 2011 in the backdrop of issues raised by the certain coastal states. <br/><br/>CRZ 2011 provides for special dispensation to the local coastal community including permission for reconstruction and repair works of dwelling units in accordance with local town and country planning norms.
