First MLA in Manipur contributes his LAD funds for making masks

<span style="color: #222222;">In Manipur, a Member of the Legislative Assembly for a remote hill district has contributed his Local Area Development funds for making masks in an aim to provide this health item to the people of Ukhrul district of the State. It would be first such initiative from a MLA of Manipur after the spread of COVID-19.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">MLA of Ukhrul Assembly Constituency Alfred Kanngam Arthur has contributed funds from his Local Area Development fund and hired two firms for making masks. So far around 4,000 masks have been stitched and are ready to distribute.The mask produced with the tag- Made in Ukhrul was launched today at Ukhrul headquarters and distributed to the people free of cost.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Speaking at the mask launching ceremony, MLA said, World Health Organisation (WHO) has given directive that social distancing and wearing face masks is only instrument that ensured prevention of COVID-19. The material used for making the masks is washable and could be used for a long time. The aim of the initiative is to provide masks to the people and generate employment. The masks will be sold at a price of Rs. 20 per piece.</span><br />''  <br />
