First meeting of International solar alliance to be held today

The first meeting of the steering committee of the International solar alliance will take place today. The alliance was formed yesterday in the presence of 33 head of the government and head of the states. India is the main architect of this alliance.<br/><br/>Earlier, the Prime Minister addressed the plenary addressed of the Conference of parties, COP-21 in Paris yesterday, Mr. Modi called for a universal alliance to meet the challenge of global warming. Making a strong pitch for climate justice, he asked the developed nations to full fill their obligations on finance and technology. <br/><br/>He said coming together, we can meet the challenge. Calling the developed nation to leave carbon space for the developed countries, he said India voluntarily intends to cut upto 35 percent green house emissions. India is making renewable sources of energy key to economic development. <br/><br/>UN Secretary General Ban ki Moon appealed to the participating countries to arrive at an agreement during the 12 day conference and be flexible. He said it may not be best but must be achieved.<br/>French President Hollande thanked the world leaders for their overwhelming response.<br/><br/><br/>The session is being attended by 196 nations. 150 countries were represented at the head of the government and heads of state level amidst unprecedented security cover.
