The first meeting of team of experts and officials of Pancheshwar Development Authority(PDA) has begun at Kathmandu today. During the two day meeting various issues of Pancheshwar Hydropower project including hydrology, existing and future consumptive water use under Mahakali treaty, maximisation of total benefits and cost apportionment of the project will be discussed.<br/><br/>Formation of subgroups on Hydrology, Geology, Construction equipment planning, Environment and socio-economic impacts and Civil design will also be discussed. Experts and senior officials of India and Nepal are taking part in the meeting.<br/><br/>Pancheswar Development Authority was set up in August 2014 to develop, execute and operate Pancheshwar project on Mahakali river in Nepal. India and Nepal had signed Mahakali Treaty in 1996 for development of Pancheshwar Multipurpose Project. It is expected to produce around 5000 MW electricity.
