The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research,CSIR today announced the first-ever comprehensive mapping of mycobacterium tuberculosis with an objective to discover novel drugs for TB disease. <br/><br/>Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, the Director of CSIR, Dr S.K Brahmachari said that the exercise will help producing more effective drugs to combat TB which kills 1.7 million people annually. <br/><br/>He said that the TB gene map, developed under the Open Source Drug Discovery,OSDD will be available in the public domain for drug makers. <br/><br/>Dr Brahmachari also stressed the need to have a balanced view between health as a right and health as a business.
