First ever International Conference on Electronic Warfare commenced in Bangalore today. Dr. V K Aatre, Former Scientific Adviser to Defence Minister and DG, DRDO, who inaugurated the Conference, stressed that Electronic Warfare system as part of Network Centric Warfare is lethal and considered essential to win any modern war. Ashwini Kumar Datt, CMD of Bharat Electronic Limited informed that a state of the art laboratory will start functioning in Bangalore to take up futuristic research in Electronic Warfare equipments. Vice Admiral R K Dhowan, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, highlighted that Electronic Warfare creates electro magnetic spectrum to disrupt radar signals across the border and help penetrate into enemy territory without being detected. He emphasized upon a need to upgrade platform and systems by the cutting edge technology and adopt joint planning with a vision by visualizing the demands of armed forces, 50 years from now. <br/>
