First batch of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims leave for holy cave shrine from Jammu

The first batch of 1282 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims left for the holy cave shrine from Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu this morning amid tight security. The Yatra was flagged off by Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh at 5 AM. Police said, the first batch of pilgrims include 900 men, 225 women and 13 children. <br/><br/>The 48 day long yatra will culminate on August 18 the day coinciding with Raksha Bandhan and Shravan Purnima. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the pilgrims and their morale was high. The authorities have made elaborate arrangements for boarding and lodging of yatris in Jammu and other parts of the State. <br/><br/>The pilgrims who left from Jammu will reach the base camps of Nunwan Pahalgam in South Kashmir district of Anantnag and Baltal in Central Kashmir district of Ganderbal this evening.
