Firing in Delhi injures two Taiwan nationals

Two Taiwanese nationals were injured today in the Jamia Masjid area of Old Delhi when two men on a motorcycle fired several rounds on their vehicle stationed in the area. A red alert has been sounded across the capital after the incident took place. The two injured – Cesewein (27) and Cinglo (28) have been admitted to Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Narayan Hospital.The injured were part of a five-member group from Taiwan which was in the capital since yesterday. The Joint Commissioner of Police, Karnal Singh told reporters that the four cartridges were recovered from the spot. He said that the constable who was manning the Gate No 3, tried to give a chase to the attackers but they fled on their motorcycle. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said the incident is sad and worrying but said there was nothing to panic. The Union Home Ministry says it is closely monitoring the investigations into the incident and has sought a report from the Delhi Police.Home Minister P Chidambaram also visited the LNJP Hospital and enquired about the health conditions of the injured and also talked to senior officials and medical professionals.
