The tombs of Ugandan regional kings have been wrecked by fire, sparking protests amid claims of arson. Police were deployed across the capital, Kampala, to quell the unrest. <br/><br/>It is not clear what started the fires. At the scene of the fire in Kasubi district of Kampala, people are mourning the loss of the monuments. <br/><br/>According to reports, the tombs were revered among some people in the Buganda region as a symbol of what had traditionally belonged to their kingdom. <br/><br/>The Unesco-listed structures, made of reed with thatched roofs, were built in the 19th Century as a burial site for four kings of the Buganda region. Buganda is the largest of Uganda's four ancient kingdoms. <br/><br/>Last year, supporters of the current Buganda king rioted over government plans they felt would reduce their autonomy.
