Fire in Jet Airways flight engine, passengers safe

A minor fire broke out in the engine of a Jet Airways flight carrying about 158 passengers early morning today. The incident occurred around 5.40 am when the Jet Airways Riyadh-Mumbai flight arrived at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

The plane was still taxiing on the runway when officials from the Air Traffic control noticed some smoke emanating from the left engine of the aircraft. The cockpit crew was immediately ordered to shut down the engine and fire was extinguished within minutes. By 6 a.m., normal operations were resumed and no casualties were reported.
