Foam-carrying fire tenders have been moved from Mathura, Panipat and Ahmedabad to douse the fire raging for more than 18 hours at the Indian Oil Corp's fuel depot in Jaipur that killed six of the company's employees. The fire, which started due to a leakage in one of the valves last evening<br/><br/>continues to rage in five of the 13 tanks that stored petrol, diesel and kerosene. The actual fire fighting is expected to begin before evening. Petroleum Minister Murli Deora, who flew in to the city early this morning, said, there is not much that can be done and one has to wait for all of petrol and diesel to burn. He said, the IOC will give an ex-gratia of 10 lakh rupees to the kin of those killed in the fire and 2 lakh rupees to those seriously injured, while one lakh will be given to those with minor injuries.<br/><br/>Mr. Deora also informed that a five-member committee headed by M B Lal, former Chairman and Managing Director, Hindustan Petroleum will go into the cause of the fire and suggest holistic safety measures. The committee, will submit its report in six weeks.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Seven rehabilitation centres have been opened where the people evacuated from the nearby villages are taking shelter. The schools in the nearby villages will remain closed today. The District administration has prohibited entry in an area of five kilometers around the spot to prevent people from inhaling the poisonous gases. All factories in the industrial area have been closed. People in the nearby areas have started complaining of breathing problems and irritation in eyes. Nearby hospitals have been asked to attend to such patients.<br/><br/>The North-Westwern Railway has either cancelled or diverted 20 trains from Jaipur as the Railway track is passing close to the incident sight. Nearby villages, colonies and hostels in nearby institutional area were evacuated and traffic on the adjoining Jaipur-Kota Highway was also diverted.
