Fire in AP’s private hospital injures 20

In Andhra Pradesh, at least 20 persons including patients and medical staff were injured in a fire accident that took place at a private super-speciality hospital in Hyderabad Tuesday morning. The fire service personnel fought with flames for nearly two hours.<br/><br/>The rescue teams have brought out safely about 40 persons and no casualty have been reported so far.<br/><br/>The city police commissioner A K Khan told reporters that the injured have been rushed to the nearby private hospital. The condition of six among them was termed ‘critical’. As per the eye-witnesses, fire broke out in the 100-bedded hospital housed in a five-storied building and the flames spread to all the floors witn in minutes.<br/><br/>Panic-stricken patients and medical staff rushed out of the building, while those in the upper floors had jumped out.<br/><br/>While most of those admitted sustained injuries when they jumped out of the building, some of them suffered from suffocation.<br/><br/>Director General of Fire Services, Aruna Bahuguna told reporters that the building has no sufficient fire safety measures. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, state Government has ordered an enquiry into the incident. The reason behind the fire is yet to be known.
