In a tragic Diwali-eve incident last evening, 32 people were killed in a fire following a blast in a makeshift-cracker shop in Pallipattu town, west of Chennai. Police sources said, a blast ripped through the godown when villagers were buying crackers and the entire structure caved in. The blast was so powerful, that a nearby electric transformer burst, snapping power to nearly 50 surrounding villages. The Tamilnadu fire services director Mr. Natraj said the bodies have been recovered from the debris. <br/><br/>Police sources said that three persons including the owner of the godown have been arrested.
