Fire breaks out at Panagarh Ammunition Depot in Burdwan district of West Bengal

In West Bengal, a fire broke out at ammunition centre at Panagarh army base in Burdwan district. According to the fire brigade sources, the fire broke out on late Thursday night which was brought under control.<br/><br/>Ten fire tenders are still working to fully extinguish the fire. There is no report of any casualty so far. Nearby villagers of the army base fled their homes out of panic. <br/><br/>The army today began an inquiry over the major fire. An army spokesman told AIR Kolkata correspondent that a team of official of the eastern command has already reached the spot to probe the incident. The fire gutted small arms and ammunition of the Indian army which was stocked at Panagarh base. However, there is no casualty or injury due to fire. The extent of damage is yet to be ascertained.
