FIR lodged against TMC MP Tapas Pal for rape remarks

The Centre has asked a report from the West Bengal Government on the controversial remarks made by Trinamool Congress MP Mr. Tapas Pal.

In a letter to the State Chief Secretary the Union Home Ministry has also directed the West Bengal Government to send the CD of the remarks.

Meanwhile, a women BJP activist filed an FIR against Mr. Pal in the Nakashipara police station where the MP had made the indecent remarks. Mr. Pal allegedly threatened among other things to get women belonging to his opponent camp raped by his party activists. Meanwhile, Mr. Pal tendered unconditional apology to the party leadership for his comments.

The West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamta Banerjee also condemned the statement made by her party MP. Earlier, the Trinamool Congress sought explanation from him and cautioned for such comments.

The opposition Left Parties will stage demonstration throughout the state today in protest against the comments made by Trinamool Congress MP.

The state BJP has told that they will send the CD of the remarks to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, which according to them, has lowered the dignity of the Parliament
