In Maharashtra, FIRs were lodged against Minister of State for Rural Development, Siddharam Mhetre and 28 others on Sunday in connection with the murder of a BJP activist in Sholapur district. The murder took place at Shegaon in Akkal Kot Assembly constituency on Saturday evening. Mr. Mhetre, a sitting Congress MLA, is pitted against BJP's Sidramappa Patil in the constituency. On Saturday, gunmen opened fire at Patil while he was approaching the dais to address an election rally at Shegaon. While one of the bullets grazed past Mr. Patil's shoulder, his aide Bhimanna Kore died on the spot.<br/>
