Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has stressed the need to empower people with skills and capabilities for continuous and inclusive growth. He said this while releasing a logo for the 46th Annual Meeting of Board of Governors of Asian Development Bank, ADB, in New Delhi today.
Mukherjee said that if Asia has to continue growing rapidly, its path of development needs to be inclusive and people need to be empowered with skills and capabilities that will enable them shape their own lives.
Highlighting the role of ADB, Mukherjee said it has been a valued multilateral partner in India’s journey towards economic development and growth. India will host the next ADB annual meeting in May 2013. He said that the Meeting will provide a valuable opportunity for brainstorming and cross fertilization of ideas amongst intellectuals and policy makers from across Asia and the World.
AIR correspondent reports that the 46th Annual Meeting of Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank is expected to see the visits of official delegations from 67 countries, where the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors of different countries usually lead the country delegations. This would be the third time when India will be hosting annual meeting.
