Reacting to the IIP data released today, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee expressed disappointment over the slowdown of Index of Industrial Production, IIP. He said that it is against the expectation and Government is taking several measures to kick-start the economy.
Steps are also being taken to ensure faster project clearances attracting new investments, fiscal management and regular tariff revisions are also a high priority apart from achieving the agricultural credit growth.
Mr.Mukherjee said, Banks are pro-actively addressing non-performance assets issues and the payment structure is being made at par with global standards. The Finance Minister also said, there is a need to look at cutting subsidies to revive the economy.
