India and Finland today observed that economic recovery should not be at the risk of growing protectionism and stressed that growth in trade itself was necessary for such a recovery. Briefing media persons on the bilateral discussions Vice President M Hamid Ansari had with Finland's Prime Minister Ms Mari Kivineum , the Secretary – East Ministry of External Affairs Ms Latha Reddy told media persons in Brussels that agreements and commitments already agreed upon internationally like the Kyoto Protocol and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change cannot be sidestepped.Ms Mari welcomed Indian investment in the fields of green technology, renewable energy, information and communication technology, forestry and education. She also called for greater political exchanges between Asian and European countries.
