Financial inclusion biggest success of Modi govt: Parrikar

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said, financial inclusion is the biggest success of the NDA government at the Centre. Talking to reporters in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, he said, there are several successes of the Modi government in the last two years, but the financial inclusion is the greatest success. Mr Parrikar said, 21.7 crore bank accounts were opened within five-six months with zero balance and 70 per cent of them have already deposited 37,700 crore rupees in banks. He said, in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to well-to-do families to give up gas subsidy, 1.20 crore people have given up gas subsidy. The minister said, many poor families are now getting benefits from the Ujjwala scheme. Mr Parrikar claimed that the people have availed 63,000 crore rupees under 59 different schemes of the central government. He said, Mr Modi is the first Prime Minister who has come out to give account of his government to people after completion of two years in office.<br/><br/>The Defence Minister was in Odisha to attend BJP's Vikash Ustav in Cuttack on completion of two years of the NDA government.
