Financial assistance provided to handloom agencies for raw materials, infrastructure and marketing: Govt in Parliament

<span style="color: #222222;">The government today said the Textiles ministry is implementing National Handloom Development Programme and Raw Material Supply Scheme for development of handlooms and the welfare of weavers across the country.<br />''<br />''Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, minister of Textiles Ms Darshana V Jardosh said under the above schemes, financial assistance is provided to the eligible handloom agencies for raw materials, common infrastructure development and marketing of handloom products .<br />''<br />''She informed the House that in order to create awareness about handloom schemes, chaupals and seminars are organized from time to time.<br />''<br />''The minister said in order to make textile products cost-competitive and adopting the principle of zero-rated export, the government has given its approval for continuation of rebate of state and central taxes and Levis (RoSCTL) on exports and apparel and garments till March 31st, 2024.<br />''<br />''Ms Jardosh said her ministry is implementing Cluster Development Programme (CDP), a component of National Handloom Development Programme for integrated development of handloom sector. She also informed that need-based financial assistance up to two crore rupees per cluster is provided based on the proposals received for assistance from state and UT governments.</span><br />
