Manipur Labour Minister Pheiroijam Parijat Singh said on Thursday that the state government is taking up many schemes to financially support the labourers. Speaking on the third foundation day of the Manipur Senmit Ehou Lup at Imphal, he said admission fees up to post graduation for the children of labourers registered under the state labour department will be borne by the state government. He further said that state government will also provide financial assistance for the marriages of their children. He also said state government will provide a compensatory financial assistance of one lakh rupees on the death of such labourers and 50 thousand rupees for the seriously injured labourers. AIR corresppondent reports, about 1700 labourers of the state have registered themselves in the labour department so far.
