The Finance Ministry has directed all State and Union Territories to sensitise and impress the salient features of the intensive three months long campaign to boost coverage of micro-insurance Schemes at Gram Panchayat level. Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and others are included in these schemes. The campaign will cover all the districts across the country till 30th June this year.
 
In this regard, Department of Financial Services Secretary Dr. Vivek Joshi, chaired a virtual meeting yesterday with Chief Secretaries, senior officials of all State and Union Territories. During the meeting, the State and Union Territories urged to increase enrollments under the micro-insurance Schemes given the scope and size of population in states. Currently, the active enrollments under PMJJBY are 8.3 crore and 23.9 crore under PMSBY and claims of about 15,500 crore rupees have been paid under these schemes.
