Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday chaired the 3rd Meeting of the Governing Council of the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) in New Delhi. In the meeting, Mr Jaitley reviewed the performance of NIIF and action taken by it in order to attract investment from foreign Soveriegn Wealth Funds among others in the infrastructure sector. <br/><br/>An official release said, during the meeting, the Council expressed its desire for NIIF to function as a major platform in India, to leverage and attract overseas long-term investments in various infrastructure sectors. <br/><br/>It was also informed that strong investment pipeline with investment opportunities is under consideration in the roads, ports, aviation and power sectors. NIIF is Considering investments in third party managed funds focused on clean energy, affordable housing and medium sized infrastructure companies.
