Finance Minister leaves for a week-long visit to Canada, USA

Finance Minister P Chidambaram left New Delhi this morning on a week-long visit to Canada and the US. He will project India's growth story to foreign investors and participate in the World Bank and IMF spring meetings in Washington.

In the first leg of his tour, Finance Minister will address the Canadian-Indian Business Council in Toronto today. He will also hold a Round Table Meeting with Canadian Council of Chief Executives. Mr. Chidambaram is scheduled to hold India road shows in Toronto, Ottawa, Boston and New York during his visits.

AIR Correspondent reports, with India facing high Current account Deficit, Chidambaram has been touring major global financial hubs like Japan, Germany, Hong Kong and Singapore, to project the country as an investment destination.
