In Uttar Pradesh, final voters lists will be published on January 5 next year after a month long special revision drive next month. An official spokesperson has told AIR Allahabad correspondent that during the revision drive, names of youths attaining the age of 18 years on January 1 will be included in voter`s lists. All educational institutions will be contacted for the purpose. The Commission has also announced that on October 6 and 9 verification of voter`s lists will be done at the meetings of Gram Panchayats, Local Bodies and Resident Welfare Associations while on October 7, 14 and 21 objections and claims will be received at all polling booths across the state.In view of voter`s lists revision, the Commission has banned the transfers of district magistrates, additional district magistrates associated with poll related works, Sub Divisional magistrates, Block Development Officers and Tehsildars and all other officers related with poll assignments. This ban will be effective from October 1 to January 5 till publication of voter`s lists in the state.The Chief Electoral Officer of the State Mr. Umesh Sinha has said that National Voters Day will be celebrated in the state on January 25 and photo identity cards will be distributed to new voters on that day.
