Final phase of Panchayat polls in Jharkhand concluded today

The fifth and final phase of Panchayat polls in 5 districts of Jharkhand concluded today amidst widespresd violence from Maoists. Quoting police sources of different districts, our Ranchi Correspondent reports that Maoists violence took place in five different places in the state under four districts-West Singhbhum, Bokaro, Garhwa and Giridih districts. One CRPF personnel was killed and three others were injured in a landmine blast near Nagratonagra village in Manoharpur block in West Singhbhum district. The security personnel were returning after the polls. In another incident, police and Maoists exchange of fires took place today afternoon near Jhumra hills in Bokaro district, in which two Maoists were reportedly injured. In the third incident, Maoists set on fire three vehicles and disrupted polling at a polling booth in Garwah district. Maoists also opened fire in the fourth incidents on the polling party in Bhandaria block besides setting on fire three vehicles at Matgari in Garwah district. In fifth incident, Maoists attacked the polling party after the poll at Barasingha village in Peertand police station of Giridih districts.However, despite all these incidents, polling in different districts was high ranging from 68 percent to 70 percent.
