In Assam, voting is underway for Guwahati, Nagaon, Mangoldoi, Dhubri, Barpeta and Kokrajhar seats amidst tight security.

Over 94 lakh voters will decide the fate of 74 candidates. One thousand 816 booths have been identified as hyper sensitive and around 4 thousand stations as sensitive.

Videography is being done at 342 booths and live webcasting is also being carried out at 226 stations.

459 micro observers have been deployed in this phase. 55 companies of Central para-military forces have been deployed to ensure peaceful polling. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is also likely to cast his vote at Dispur government high school polling booth in Guwahati.
