The final list of candidates will be released this evening, as withdrawal of nominations comes to a close today. While the ruling DMK-led alliance has criticised the Commission for what it termed imposing excessive restrictions, the opposition parties have welcomed the initiatives.Meanwhile, the Election Commission submitted before the Madras High Court that the searches and seizures were being conducted only as per Law. The Election Commission counsel made this submission before a division bench which was hearing petitions relating to searches and seizures.
