Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has said that consultation process on Telangana issue is on and it may take a little more time to arrive at a final decision.
Congress General Secretary In-Charge of Andhra Pradesh, Ghulam Nabi Azad has also said that further consultations are required with senior leaders of all the three regions of Andhra Pradesh. He said, the State Chief Minister and PCC Chief will be called to Delhi for the consultations.
Mr. Azad said no deadline has been set but they will be invited as early as possible.
The core committee of the Congress met yesterday to discuss the issue, but no decision was taken.
Meanwhile, agitation in support of the demand for the statehood for Telangana and protest demonstrations in favour of maintaining the status quo continued in Andhra Pradesh today.
The Telangana Joint Action Committee leaders sat on a 36 hours demonstration at Indira Park in Hyderabad demanding immediate announcement of statehood. The JAC has called for the Samara Diksha Protest.
The Telangana Rashtra Samittee has extended support to it.
Earlier, the police took scores of agitators including some MLAs into custody when they breached barricades to approach the Samara Diksha site.
Protest demonstrations also continued in Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra region in favour of keeping in state united.
