FINA approves National Games as qualifying event for World Championships

The international governing body of swimming, FINA, has approved the National Games currently being held in Kerala, as the qualifying event for the World Championships to be held in Kazan, Russia from July 24 this year. This was stated by the President of Swimming Federation of India, Sh. Virendra Nanavati.The swimmers competing in the ongoing National Games will , therefore, not just be fighting it out for medals but also for a slot in the World Championships. The World Championships will also double up as a qualifying event for next year's Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro.
