In Puducherry, Filing of nomination for the assembly elections scheduled for the 13th of next month begins today. The notification for the elections will be issued this morning. Filing of nominations will continue till the 26th of this month and the final list of contesting candidates will be released on the 30th.AIR correspondent reports that perhaps for the first time, seat sharing and alliances between the major political parties in the union territory continue to be in a limbo, though filing of nominations begin today. The Ruling congress has had two rounds of talks with its principal ally the DMK on sharing the 30 seats, but has not been able to resolve the contentious issue of seat allocation.The congress has in its front has the DMK, PMK and VCK. Even in the opposition AIADMK front, there has been no headway made on alliance formation. Though the party has had discussions with the newly floated All India NR congress led by former Chief Minister Mr N.Rangaswamy, the core issue of who will lead the front seems to be the hurdle in finalizing the alliance.Meanwhile, the BJP and BSP have announced that they will contest all the 30 seats in the union territory. The BSP National general secretary Mr. Suresh Mane will be announcing the first list of candidates tomorrow.The Puducherry unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party released its second list of candidates With this, it has announced the contestants for 19 segments in the 30-member Assembly.
