The filing of RTI applications for all central government ministries and departments goes online today.

Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, V Narayanasamy, will launch the portal– www.rtionline.gov.in– at a function in Delhi. At present, this facility is available only for 40 ministries, departments and commissions.

Now, the government will extend this facility to all central institutions which are covered under the Right to Information Act, 2005.

The prescribed fees can be paid through internet banking of SBI and its associate banks as well as credit card,debit card of Visa or Master card through the payment gateway of SBI linked to this site.
