Filing of nominations for Assembly elections in MP & Mizoram ends today

Filing of nominations for Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram ends today. In Madhya Pradesh, the nomination process for the upcoming state legislative assembly is at the peak as it ends at 3pm today. The scrutiny of nominations will take place tomorrow. More than 2,000 nominations have been filed for the 230 assembly segments till yesterday.

Among those who filed their nomination papers today include chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan from Vidisha and former union minister Suresh Pachori from Bhojpur. Mr. Pachori is contesting assembly elections for the first time on the other hand Mr. Chouhan is contesting elections from two assembly seats for the first time.

Meanwhile dissidence over ticket distribution in BJP and Congress is still continuing. Opponents pelted stones on the convoy of Congress candidate Mahendra Joshi in Shujalpur area today. After incidents of vandalism yesterday, now elaborate security arrangement have been made at the state headquarters of both the parties in Bhopal.

While in Mizoram, 77 candidates have filed their nominations so far, for the upcoming Assembly Elections. Among them, 25 Congress candidates, 23 from opposition Mizoram Democratic Alliance (MDA), 26 from Zoram Nationalist party, two from BJP and one from Nationalist congress Party have filed their nominations.

Today being the last day of filing of nominations, more candidates are expected to file by the evening. 11th November is the last day of withdrawal and scrutiny will be held on the 12th of this month and polling will be held on the 25th.

Serchhip constituency would be the biggest eye- catcher where the Chief Minister Lalthanhawla is contesting for the 7th time. The four time chief minister would be facing a tough contest from C. Lalramzauva an Advocate, a common nominee of the opposition Alliance. The Chief Minister will also contest from Hrangturzo Constituency, which is being occupied by Lalthansanga of MPC now a common candidate of MDA.

A tough fight is also expected in East Tuipui Constituency in Mizoram Myanmar border where the former chief Minister Zoramthanga of MDA is contesting with T. Sangkunga of the ruling congress who is a former President of Young Mizo Association, the biggest NGO in Mizoram.
