In Uttar Pradesh, filing of nomination papers for 1st phase of four phase three tier Panchayat elections has begun. Our Lucknow correspondent reports on the first day of nominations a total of 56 thousand 444 nomination papers including 21 thousand 146 by women candidates were filed for Gram Panchayat, Kshetra Panchayat and Zila Panchayat elections. Tomorrow is last date for nominations and September 28 and 29 are fixed for withdrawal of papers. Polling is scheduled on 11th of next month for first phase of elections in which 225 Blocks will go for poll. Meanwhile, polling in 11 blocks spread over four districts including Rampur, Bijnore, Barabanki and Hardoi districts have been shifted from 1st phase to next three phases due to flood. Similarly in Gautam Buddh Nagar district all 4 blocks will go for poll in 3rd and 4th phase of elections due to Commonwealth games.
