Filing of nominations for 1st phase of Assembly polls gets underway in Bihar

The poll process for Assembly elections in Bihar has been set in motion on Monday with issue of notification for the first phase of elections. AIR Patna correspondent reports that filing of nomination papers for the first phase of election has started after notification. 47 constituencies spread across eight districts of the state will go to the polls in this phase on October 21.These districts are Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnea, Katihar , Madhepura and Saharasa. This is the first assembly election after delimitations of constituencies. The last day for filing of nominations is the October 4. Scrutiny will be on October5 and candidates can withdraw their nomination papers till October 7. The polls for the remaining 196 seats will be held in five phases on 24th and 28 of next month and 1st, 9th and 20th of November. Votes will be counted on November 24.
