Filing of nominations for 128 LS seats to close today;Electioneering gains momentum across country

With the Lok Sabha elections drawing closer, campaiging by leaders of various political parties is gaining momentum across the country. BJP leader Narendra Modi addressed a rally at Hiranagar in Jamu and Kashmir today and later this afternoon he will address public rallies at Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh and in Delhi. A

am Admi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal who has announced his decision to take on Narendra Modi from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh undertakes a road show in the rural areas of Rohania and Sevapuri Assembly segments of the Constituency today to woo rural voters.

Filing of nominations will close today for 128 Lok Sabha seats, spread over 16 states. 29th of March will be the last date for withrawal of nominations in these constituencies. Of these, three seats in Assam, two in Goa and one each in Sikkim and Tripura will go to the polls on the 12th of next month.

Polling in other 121 seats, which include all the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, 20 in Rajasthan, 19 Maharashtra, 11 each in Odisha and Uttar Pradesh, Ten in Madhya Pradesh, seven in Bihar, six in Jharkhand, four in West Bengal, three in Chhattisgarh and one each in Jammu and Kashmir and Manipur will take place on the 17th of April in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections.

Scrutiny of nominations for all these constituencies will take place tomorrow.

Filing of nominations for 32 Assembly constituencies, in Sikkim and 77 in Odisha will also end today.

Today is also the last day for withdrawal of candidature for 92 Lok Sabha seats, spread over 15 states and 3 Union Territories and for the 60 member Arunachal Pradesh Assembly and 70 Assembly seats in Odisha.
