Filing of nominations ends in Maharashtra, Haryana

On the last day of filing nominations for Vidhan Sabha elections in Maharashtra, many big leaders were seen rushing to file their nominations amidst elaborate security.

While filing nominations, many heavyweight leaders tried to display their strength through the huge rallies.

Political campaigns have also kick stared with leaders visiting their constituencies and taking stock of their party's poll preparedness in their regions.

AIR Mumbai Correspondent reports, it was a semi final for all the candidates who are contesting the Vidhan Sabha elections as there was less time left for them to file their nominations.

Heavy rush was seen at various returning offices across the state.

Prominent leaders like Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Industry Minister Narayan Rane, Maharashtra’s Ex CM Ashok Chavan’s wife Amita Chavan filed their nominations.

But because of the delay on the final list of candidates, the candidates faced many difficulties while filing the nominations.

On the last day record breking nominations were filed according to the sources of election commission of Maharashtra.

The final figure is still awaited. Meanwhile, after split in two major alliances political activities are still on to establish new equations in the state.

Besides, a large number of individuals were seen changing their loyalties to get tickets from other political parties.

In Haryana, 1239 nominations have been filed on the last day. Now the total nominations filed by the candidates are 2047 for 90 assembly constituency.

AIR Correspondent reports that in the last assembly polls 1876 nominations were filed out which 433 were rejected and 221 candidates withdrew their nominations and 1222 candidates contested the elections.

With filing of the nomination coming to an end today the political scenario in the State will be clearer as most of the political parties announced their candidates till eleventh hour. Now, the campaigning will also gear up in the State.

Maximum nominations were filed on the last two days and power show was on full display as major political party’s bigwig accompanied its party candidates to the election office for filing of the nomination and later urged the people to elect their party candidate.

Indian National Congress, Bhartiya Janta Party and Indian National Lok Dal is contesting on all 90 assembly seats while breaking its alliance with BJP, Haryana Janhit Congress would be contesting election in alliance with a newly formed Haryana Janchetna Party.

With many regional and other state political parties in the fray and many candidates going independent after being denied party tickets, the political equation can be very different in these elections.
