Filing of nomination papers for 1st phase of assembly polls in Assam and West Bengal ends today

The filing of nomination papers in the first phase of polls came to an end in Assam and West Bengal this evening. In Assam, Forty seven seats will go to the polls in this phase on the 27th of this month.<br />''<br />''Senior BJP leader and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal filed his nomination paper today for the Majuli seat. State Congress President Ripun Bora, former leader of the opposition Debabrata Saikia and former Minister Rockybul Hussein submitted nomination papers. <br />''<br />''For the ruling BJP, along with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Speaker of the assembly Hitendra Nath Goswami, Senior Ministers Ranjit Dutta and Jogen Mohan are in the fray. President of Asom Gana Parishad Atul Bora and Executive President Keshab Mahanta would also try to re-elect in this phase. Along with them, President of Assam Jatiya Parishad Lurinjyoti Gogoi and Chief of Raijor Dal Akhil Gogoi are also in the first phase.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #000000;">In West Bengal, in this phase, 30 assembly constituencies across five districts will go to polls on 27th of this Month. Ahundred and eleven nominations have been filed so far for the first phase. Scrutiny will be done tomorrow. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is on 12th March. The elections in the state will be held in eight phases from the 27th March to 29th April. Counting will take place on the 2nd of May.</span>
