Filing of nomination papers for the forthcoming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerela comes to an end today. The papers will be scrutinized on Monday and the last date for withdrawal is Wednesday. AIR Chennai correspondent reports, the battle lines are drawn with the DMK led democratic Progressive Alliance facing AIADMK led alliance in Tamilnadu. Political leaders like DMK chief Karunanidhi, AIADMK chief Jayalalitha, Deputy Chief Minister Stalin, DMDK chief Vijayakanth are on a whirl wind campaign across the length and breadth of the State. In Puducherry, the Congress has entered into an seat sharing arrangement with the PMK and VCK, even as the opposition parties are continuing negotiations on seat sharing. Hard bargaining and reconciliation are paving the way for the formation of two formidable alliance in the union territory. After allotting 10 seats to its principal ally the DMK, Congress party had to give 3 seats to the PMK and VCK. The Party, a dominant player in Puducherry politics, will be contesting in 17 seats, one more than it did in the 2006 elections. In Kerala, poll campaign has further intensified. Congress led UDF having announced election manifesto yesterday is getting ready to reach all 140 constituencies in a big way. As of now ruling LDF is ahead of UDF and BJP has further intensified campaigning. Meanwhile, training programmes for officials on poll duty is fast progressing and electronic voting machines have arrived in the state.
