Filing nominations for Gujarat’ first phase polls has ended

In Gujarat, large number of candidates from major political parties have filed their nomination papers as filing of nominations for the first phase Constituencies ended this evening. In the first phase 87 Assembly constituencies in Saurashtra, South Gujarat and some parts of Ahmedabad district will go to the polls on the 13th December.

Though, the stage is set for triangular contest among BJP, Congress-NCP alliance and Gujarat Parivartan party, the final picture of the contest will emerged after next Wednesday , the last date of withdrawal of nominations. Nomination papers will be scrutinized on Monday.

Filing of nomination papers for 95 Assembly Constituencies in Kutch and North and Central Gujarat covered in the second phase of polling are on. Polling for this phase will be held on 17th December, while counting of votes will take place on 20th December.

AIR Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that Opposition congress and ruling BJP face tough situation with wide spread dissents witnessed among the party leaders and workers for getting ticket of Assembly seats. Gujarat Parivartan Party declared nemes of 23 more candidates today for the first phase of polling.

About 1.81 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in more than 21 thousand polling stations in the first phase of polling.
