The fifth accused in the July 31 telephone operator gang rape case was arrested by the Mumbai police yesterday. Police said the accused, who has been identified as Mohammed Ashfaque Sheikh, was arrested from Girgaon Chowpatty in South Mumbai area.

The other four accused have already been arrested out of whom three persons- Salim Ansari, Vijay Jadhav, Mohammed Qasim are also accused in August 22 photo journalist rape case. The fourth accused is a juvenile. The case of another gang rape on Shakti Mills Compund at Mahalaxmi was uncovered on September 3 when an 18-year-old telephone operator complained to the police about being gang raped on July 31.
