The FIFA World Cup football competition resumed in Russia today after a day of rest, with the Round of 16 matches to decide 8 quarter-finalists.
The knock-out stage preceded 48 group stage matches. The first pre-quarterfinal match of the day is underway at Kazan Arena between 7th ranked France and 5th ranked Argentina.
France scored the first goal in the 35th minute. However, Argentina's Angel Di Maria equalised a few minutes later.
Gabriel Mercado doubled the lead for Argentina in the second half.
Later at 11.30 pm, 14th ranked Uruguay will take on 4th ranked Portugal at Fisht Stadium in Sochi.
The remaining six knock-out matches will be played in the next three days with the last match between England and Colombia on Tuesday.
