Columbia and Japan reached the last 16 stage of the FIFA World Cup in Russia last night. Colombia reached to the last 16 after defeating Senegal 1-0 in a group H match in Samara. Yerry Mina's solitary goal in the second half helped Colombia to reach the knock-out stage.
In another Group H match in Volgograd, Japan lost 1-0 to Poland but reached to last 16 on fair play points. Bednarek scored the solitary goal for Poland in the 59th minute of the match. Colombia finished on top of Group H, while Senegal missed out to Japan on a fair play tie-breaker. Japan progressed with two fewer yellow cards than the African side.
In other two group G matches, Belgium defeated England 1-0 in Kaliningrad and Tunisia beat Panama 2-1 in Saransk. Riding on Adnan Januzaj's 51st minute solitary goal, Belgium defeated England 1-0 to top Group G with nine points. In the in the final group stage match, Tunisia beat Panama 2-1.
Fakhreddine Ben Youssef and Wahbi Khazri scored for Tunisia while Yassine Meriah netted the only goal for Panama. This was Tunisia's first victory at the World Cup since 1978.
Now Belgium will face Japan while England will play Colombia in the round of 16.
