In Afghanistan, fierce fighting is still going on near International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) headquarter in Kabul. The insurgents had launched an attack on central Kabul around 1 p.m. today with rocket propelled grenades and other sophisticated weapons. They have taken over an under construction multi-storey building near the diplomatic district in the Afghan’s capital and are still firing in the direction of several embassy and NATO compounds. Loud blasts and gunfire can be heard throughout the area, where most of the foreign missions and embassies are located. NATO helicopters are encircling the building taken over by the insurgents. According to agency reports the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. Meanwhile the U.S. Embassy in a statement issued in Kabul confirmed the attack. The statement says that the attack occurred in the area of the U.S. Embassy. It has also confirmed that there have been no casualties among Embassy personnel.
