Fierce fighting continues in Libya between rebels & Gaddafi forces

Fierce fighting between the rebels and the government troops has rocked the key city of Zawiya, 50 kilometres west of Tripoli. Pro-government forces were pushed out of the city centre in heavy fighting yesterday morning but they regrouped for a fresh assault later in the day. The rebels fighting the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi have taken control of the port of Ras Lanuf to the east of Tripoli. Observers say the overall balance of power is difficult to assess as the struggle for control over Libya continues. In Tripoli, there is growing confidence among the loyalists to Gaddafi as their control appears to have consolidate in Tripoli and other central areas. But elsewhere in the country, rebel forces have gained control to overthrow Col. Gaddafi's regime.
