FICCI frames calls for Kid's content in entertainment

Day two of FICCI frames saw stalwarts of media and entertainment industry discussing the need for broadcasters and kids' content creators to develop content that balances education and entertainment. Speaking at a session on 'India needs a kids content Act', Mr. Mukesh Khanna, Chairman of Children's Film Society of India said children are viewing non-Indian content as producers are scared to make products for kids.<br/><br/>He emphasized the need for a regulation that that would encourage producers to develop original content for kids. Meanwhile, Mr. Rajiv Chilaka, Creator of Chhota Bheem suggested the need for a dedicated channel like Doordarshan Kids as it will help in reaching kids in rural areas as these regions may not have access to cable TV.<br/><br/>Addressing a different session, the CEO of Broadcast Audience Research Council Partho Dasgupta said that the agency is planning to measure audio-visual content across platforms such as mobile phones and laptops to offer a more composite study from next year.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Turkey's state broadcaster, the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation is likely to sign a MoU with Doordarshan for content collaboration. In a statement, Turkey's Ambassador Burak Akcapar said that an official delegation led by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Tourism is very encouraged with the response recieved at FICCI Frames conclave being held in Mumbai. The statement added that Turkey is expecting content exports of USD 20 million to India by 2018.
