The preparation to celebrate the festival of light Deepawali tomorrow is in full swing across the different parts of the country.<br/><br/>President and Vice President have greeted the countrymen on the eve of Diwali. <br/><br/>In a message, President Pranab Mukherjee said, Diwali represents the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. He wished the festival to serve as a catalyst for greater unity within the country. <br/><br/>Mr Mukherjee appealed to the people to share happiness, help the needy and engage in collective efforts to lead the nation to greater and greater glory. Mr Mukherjee also urged the countrymen to celebrate Diwali in a pollution- free manner. <br/> <br/>Vice President M. Hamid Ansari, in his message said that the festival of lights signifies the victory of good over evil and reaffirms people's belief in the noble ideals and morals of Lord Rama's life. <br/><br/>He expressed hope that the festival will bring peace, harmony, prosperity and happiness in people's lives.<br/><br/>In Uttar Pradesh, markets are abuzz with shoppers who are out with children to buy crackers, Diyas, decorative lightnings, puja materials and sweets. <br/><br/>People in Ayodhya and various other places are also celebrating Hanuman Jayanti on Tuesday. <br/><br/>A week long Hanuman Jayanti Utsav is underway in Ayodhya in Hanuman Garhi. <br/><br/>Whereas huge rush of people in markets is being witnessed in Allahabad, Mirzapur Vindhyachal, Varanasi and Agra among other places. <br/><br/>The food safety department of the state has collected samples of sweetmeats and edibles from various districts to save people from health hazards. <br/><br/>Besides, elaborate security arrangements have been made all over the state with special emphasis on sensitive places.<br/> <br/>AIR Lucknow correspondent reports, with almost 25% fall in cracker's sale, environment activists are happy as people are not buying that much of crackers and high decibel rockets this time in comparison of previous years. <br/><br/>Experts say that high cost of crackers and awareness about resultant pollution have caused this shift in the people's behaviour. <br/><br/>On the other hand, earthen lamp makers are a bit happy since people are preferring it over Chinese lamps. <br/><br/>Though government offices were open on Tuesday but attendance was very thin as most employees were on leave to celebrate Narak Chaturdashi on Tuesday and Deewali on Wednesday. <br/><br/>The state medical department has issued advisories for safe celebration of festival of light.<br/><br/>In Gujarat, the celebrations of Dipawali are on in entire State as people are busy in preparation of the festival of lights. The markets are crowded with buyers on the eve of Dipawali in Ahmedabad. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that administration has made special arrangements to cope up with fire or any other emergencies during the festival. <br/><br/>AIR Ahmedabad correspondent reports, looking to the increased fire incidents in the past, the fire fighters along with additional staff have been kept ready in all major cities.<br/><br/>Government hospitals have made special control rooms to attend the fire emergencies. <br/><br/>The services of 108 emergency ambulances in Ahmedabad and other cities of the state have been increased in view of the festival. <br/><br/>However, the people are busy in last minute shopping as markets and shopping malls are looking overcrowded. <br/><br/>Shopping malls, Markets and Government buildings have been decorated with colourful lights in all major cities. People are also decorating their houses with lights, rangolis and diyas to welcome Dipawali festival.<br/><br/>In Puducherry, Diwali is being celebrated with usual fervour as the rains receded after heavy downpour for the last three days. <br/><br/>The sky was clear from the morning and there was only mild drizzling in the Union Territory. <br/><br/>The whole city is vibrating with the sound of bursting crackers. People exchange sweets and gifts to friends and relatives. <br/><br/>Lt. Governor AK Singh, Chief Minister N Rangasamy and leaders of all parties had greeted people on the occasion of Diwali.
