Deepawali, the festival of lights is being celebrated across the country with traditional fervor and gaiety. The festival symbolizes the removal of darkness and gloom and bringing happiness, peace and prosperity in the life of people. Our correspondent reports that adequate security arrangements are in place at market and other public places in the national capital to keep a close watch on suspects.

The national capital is sparkling as Homes, buildings, temples and markets have been tastefully decorated with colorful lights and flowers. People have lit traditional Diyas, Candles and electric lamps in their homes. A large number of devotees thronged Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha temples seeking blessings for prosperity. This year the use of fire crackers is comparatively less as people have become increasingly conscious of pollution hazards. Delhi fire services have made elaborate arrangements to ensure an incident-free Diwali and extra fire tenders have been kept ready in case of any emergency.
